FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
ST. ROSE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING Wednesday, July 16, 2025; 1:03 p.m.
In attendance: Father Leo, Nancy Miller, Joe Surges, Diane Thomas, Pat Botta, Donna Hoffmann, Joly Agdinaoay, Christina Jensen (in office), Sylvia Smith
Opening Prayer led by Father Leo.
Chair Nancy Miller welcomed all for coming offering homemade cookies.
*MOTION: Joe Surges made a motion to accept the May minutes; Donna Hoffmann seconded the motion. Approved.
Father Leio announced there have been no Parish Council meetings the last 2 months (summer break). August 2nd there will be the Jubilee Celebration at St. Joseph’s Parish in Pinole, 10:00 a.m.
In fundraising, Father mentioned many funds for our parish come from the Choir members. September 27 – Fashion Show/Dinner; also the Feast of San Lorenzo. July 19, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Canvas Coffee/Paint serving breaksfast/lunch at a cost of $30. October 12, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – enchilada fundraiser. November 23, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. – Christmas Market.
Nancy presented Finance Report: St. Rose Checking $17,249.87 General Account, $350 Bishop, etc.; Living Memorial $32,103.73, of that $6500 earmarked for candle stand; $741, Men’s Club toward Lady of Guadalupe celebration; $442.28, Women’s Club toward Confirmation/First Communion. Christina to transfer when events arise. Dedicated Fund, $35,708.54, which is available. St. Patrick Mission: $34,044.70 Savings; $33,786.27 Checking.
Nancy went over the Profit and Loss for June 2025: Income at 45.6%. Under Expenses, through discussion, the Finance Committee strongly recommends the water system be checked and repaired. Under Liturgy, in actuality, seems to be okay. Under Education Program, not accurate, stands at 50%.
Nancy’s conclusion: not bad financially at the present time.
Joe Surges gave a report on the rental status of the CCD building: Atila, from the Diocese, gave the okay to rent the premises. $800 starting July 1; lease contract month to month. Diocese asking cameras not be installed until finalization of bankruptcy. Pay the first and last month unless at the end of 2025 all payments have been made, the renter can renew.
Father Leo mentioned someone from the Diocese was to tour the property; Father waited but no one appeared.
Bishop’s Appeal for St. Patrick, at this time, is $332 short. St. Rose, at this time, is approximately $800 short.
Chirstina would like to add the QR Code to the Church Bulletin. All in agreement.
Wednesday, September 17, 1:00 p.m., next Finance Meeting.
Joe covered the possibility of solar panels for the premises. After his investigation and further discussion, it was decided panels were not feasible at this time: too expensive.
Larry Hayden would like to exercise his rental option for another 5 years in regard to the CCD parking lot. Request he send a letter in that regard.
Father mentioned Christina would like to have the Hall cleaned after events professionally. The request will be forwarded to the Parish Council. Also a request to the Parish Council re a Maintenance Committee be formed.
